We are proud that our Faculty member Dr. Giulia De Masi has been awarded at the Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Award as one of the three PIs of the project H-SURF (Heterogeneous Swarm of Underwater Robotic Fish), funded by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), and conducted at Khalifa University from November 2020 to January 2025. Led by Principal Investigators Giulia De Masi, Federico Renda, and Cesare Stefanini, the team maintains an active collaboration on current and future research initiatives. The project H-SURF is a bio-inspired collective robotic system designed to overcome the limitations of traditional Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) in complex, dynamic ecosystems. Dr. Giulia De Masi led the development of the Artificial and Collective Intelligence of the swarm system.
