As part of Integrity Week, a workshop was held on Wednesday 8 April, bringing together the Department of Geography and the Library. First-year Geography students enrolled on the urban planning course were invited to consider a very real-world issue: Towards a Walkable City: Rethinking Mobility & Public Space in Downtown Abu Dhabi (Al Hosn / Hamdan Street Area).
Through a collaborative and comparative exercise, the students explored two research approaches — the library’s academic resources and artificial intelligence tools — before presenting their analyses and proposals. This experience highlighted the importance of critical thinking, cross-referencing sources and the essential role of field research in developing sustainable urban solutions.
