Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is continuing to strengthen its commitment to sustainability through the implementation of its Sustainability Strategy 2030. The strategy seeks to integrate environmental responsibility across campus operations, education, research, and community engagement, supporting the university’s contribution to sustainable development in the UAE and beyond.
The Sustainability Strategy is organized around five key streams that guide the university’s efforts: 1) Campus Sustainability, 2) Education and Training, 3) Research and Innovation, 4) Engagement and Partnerships, and 5) People and Society. Together, these streams provide a framework for embedding sustainability across university life.
This work builds on the university’s recent recognition in the Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Environmental Award, which celebrates institutions that show exceptional leadership and innovation in environmental sustainability.
Looking ahead to 2026, the university will continue developing initiatives across the different streams of the strategy. These efforts will focus on strengthening sustainable practices on campus, promoting interdisciplinary environmental research, and creating opportunities for greater awareness and engagement around sustainability. Students will play a central role in these initiatives by proposing innovative ideas to green the campus and taking an active role in organizing and delivering sustainability activities throughout the year.
Through its Sustainability Strategy, SUAD aims to build a campus that not only reduces its environmental footprint but also serves as a space for innovation, collaboration, and learning about sustainability.
